“Only connect” was a phrase that made novelist E.M. Forster famous. It’s about coming together, respecting individuality and above all else clearly communicating. At least, that’s our impression, and a big part of why we joined PRSA’s National Diversity Committee.
The diversity committee’s focus is to authentically connect industry practitioners with multicultural and diverse audiences. New changes to our committee have made it possible for us to become an even more accessible resource.
After an internal reorganization and realignment, the diversity committee has grown in size and scope. The committee’s goals have expanded to include not only promoting diversity retention and recruitment strategies but to providing more thought leadership, including strategic insight, case studies and testimonials.
This month, the committee is launching the Diversity Today blog, featuring up-to-date information for industry leaders, practitioners, students and PRSA Chapters. Along with the blog, the committee is launching the Twitter account @PRSADiversity, which will be a feed for diversity-related news and views, and a monthly #prdiversity chat.
In addition to these new resources, we will continue to build our PRSA Diversity Today Podcast Series, Diversity Intelligence and Chapter tools, including Case Studies and Diversity Tool Kit®.
This is the start of many new initiatives to come from the PRSA Diversity Committee. We look forward to your response to these changes and love to hear ideas for the future.
